Dirty hands? Clean them up!

Have you ever been out and gotten dirty hands? I think that's about the same question is, do you breathe? LOL. In the past our main options was alcohol based hand sanitizer which isn't safe for children. Not anymore!! Prefense provided me with their new foaming sanitizer to try! It is Alcohol free and its germ killing power lasts for 24 hours or 10 hand washings!!! And it will not hurt if it is swallowed! That is a relief with my curious little one!! Prefense protects against staph, strep, E.coli, drug resistant MRSA strains, and more. They fight germs that other hand sanitizers can’t!! And because it's not alcohol based, it actually softens your hands!

Prefense offers a variety of products, the sanitizer, refills, wet wipes, and even a wall unit.

We loved our Prefense, and look forward to taking it on our Disney trip. There's nothing grosser than going in a bathroom on the road, and realizing there's no soap, or no towels. This is such a great solution!! Prefense is also nice to keep in your purse or in your office.

And guess what?? Prefense is offering you the chance to win one yourself!

Here’s how to enter: Go to Prefense's website and tell me what you like best about it!

Scary Rides at Disney...

How do you prepare a little one for a trip to Disney? My 4 (and a half) year old is very excited about our trip, but apprehensive about some of the rides. Rides she is presently scared of include: The Haunted Mansion (my FAVORITE ride, so much so that it's the ringtone on my phone!), Pirates of the Carribean, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and Snow White's Scary Adventures.

We've started watching videos on youtube of all of the rides I think she'll be scared of to prepare her. This doesn't mean showing her all the rides, that wouldn't be fun, just the ones I think she needs to watch a few times to psych herself up to ride. I get the distinct impression she thinks she'll be fighting her way through pirates or running away from ghosts, no matter how many times I explain that she'll be carried through the ride on a car/boat/etc.

Our favorite place to watch rides is the Infomouse. Her tips, ride through rides, and information are a perfect starting place for anyone prepping for Disney. I also like SpokesMayne's Day at DisneyWorld, and how you can click the video to ride the rides.

Let me know what your tips for preparing little ones for the scarier parts of Disney are.

Better late than never, post for Something about me Blog Hop!

Disneybird was kind enough to host a blog hop, and I just didn't get my post up. I'm a procrastinator sometimes. I'd love to give you excuses, there are some. But, this time it was mostly procrastination.

Now, for something about me that isn't procrastination.

A lot of you are new fans, so I'll tell you something you might not know about me you might or might not know. Let's see....I'll make it Disney related. My parents, both teachers, have always struggled but also wanted to make sure I had special experiences in life. So, when I started asking to go to DisneyWorld, they said I was too young. They told me we could go when I was 12. I assume this was to put me off asking, and possibly because they thought i'd forget. I didn't. :) So as I was approaching 12, I started reminding my parents of their promise. They did come through, and in 1991 they took me to DisneyWorld. It was one of my favorite vacations ever. It set the tone for my love affair with Disney, and my favorite park....

Epcot. I know, I'm one of the few that would choose Epcot if I only had one day. Can you believe it? I think part of it was that my dad got to go there because he had a conference before we did. He brought me home a tape of music, and it was all Epcot music, and I fell in love. That and Epcot made me feel like being smart was okay.

What something we might not know about you that is Disney related?

Ways to make money...

Hubby enjoys attending storage locker auctions. You've probably seen Storage Wars, or maybe heard of it, it's kind of like that but with less mean people bidding lockers up to thousands of dollars. He's been going for about 5 years now, and he's had some success with it.
I prefer mystery shopping. It's fun to feel like you're on a secret mission, and it's also fun to be able to give your comments about the whole experience - dining or shopping.

What ways do you like to put a little extra $$ in your pocket?

Leslie

A little tangent, drama from the DD...

(This picture isn't my child's handiwork, but it COULD be.) I'm taking a break from my usual money saving tips and Disney talk to discuss my little one. Do you have a little one? My DD is 4, going on 14. She's very loving, very kind, and very....curious. She is just into EVERYTHING. Shouldn't she have been like that at, I donno, 2? It doesn't take long for her to get into something. I say, go use the bathroom, and next thing I know there's water on the floor, toothpaste on the tub and wall, and something of mine is swimming or in the trash.

I am tired. What does all this experimenting mean? When will it end?

Is it a good thing?

Are your kids like this?

Thanks all.

It's time for a Giveaway!!!

As we plan for our big Disney trip, one of the things we've considered is keeping hydrated. I don't know what the weather is like where you are, but here it is in the mid 90's and HUMID!!! A big challenge we were facing is keeping my daughter hydrated without having her WEAR her drink. My daughter is four, so she is somewhat skilled outside of a vehicle at handling cups, but inside a car, for some reason her clothes are drink magnets. She spilled a giant slushee in Million Dream Mom's car this weekend. Why? She just let go and it fell.

But, I have FOUND a solution!!! It is a cup from Boon called FLUID! Claire loves Fluid because it's fun to hold! I love it because she doesn't come out of the car wearing her drinks! It is perfect. It doesn't look like a traditional sippy cup, and it holds a lot of liquid, so it's perfect for little ones and it's also perfect for preschoolers who can't quite handle a car trip with drinks skillfully.

(Below is a picture of her in the car covered in SOMETHING as usual. Popcorn and Snocone I believe.)

We already loved the Boon Frog Pod, but we didn't realize how extensive their line is! Now that I've told you how highly we think of Boon and the Fluid, I bet you'd like to try one. Guess what? You can win one RIGHT HERE!!! :) Boon has been kind enough to provide a Fluid to one of the One Year to Disney Readers.

Here’s how to enter: Go to Boon's website and tell me what your favorite color Fluid Cup is!

You can earn Extra Entries too:

  • FOLLOW Boon's blog, twitter or facebook (1 entry each)

Borrowed from Disboards. I WISH IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY!!

This is the coolest thing I think I have ever seen. I want it. I want it. I want it. I want it.

Disney Dreaming/Drooling,

Food Pix. YUM!!!!!!!

So I realized something. I just finished talking to my computer. I don't mean...thinking out loud. I mean, talking to it and making requests.

It all started this afternoon. I called the 407 W Disney line for some help with planning our trip and trying to figure out gift cards and such. Then the lady told me, you know, the Disney dining has been REALLY booked. People this week aren't getting into table service restaurants....and they are MAD! Well....I know I want to have some sit down dining, and physically with 2 adults who have serious health stuff going on, it's better for us to sit and relax and be in the cool and all of that. So, I figure I had better make a few reservations, just in case, so that we aren't overheated, hungry and SOL.

So, I've been researching. First I read reviews, then menus....and then I tried to sleep. Only, my brain is racing. The closer Disney gets the more my brain races.

So I get back up and start looking at the "Food porn" section of Disboards. And I just realized that i am speaking out loud to my computer. I literally just said, "I want that, get me that." As if the computer can obey Disney wishes or something. I really should be sleeping, instead I'm looking at Sushi and school bread.

I just had to tell someone. So...there you have it.

Some people sent naughty texts. I look at "food porn". I admit it.

Disney Dreaming/Drooling,

Leslie
